About
As a native New Yorker, Alex (also known as “Schu”), spent most of her life thinking yoga was a slow, and boring way to work out and definitely not suited for her fast paced lifestyle and type A personality. She was a competitive soccer player up until attending Vanderbilt University where she started running outside to get familiar with her new southern surroundings. After graduating from Vanderbilt Alex moved to southern Spain to teach English. When she wasn't teaching she was usually found running up and down the Mediterranean. While she enjoyed the Costa Del Sol she was eager to move back to New York to pursue a career in finance.
Shortly after moving home her father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away. A year later she decided to combine her love for running with passion for fighting cancer by training for the New York City marathon with the American Cancer Society. Before her training began, many friends advised she should include yoga in her regimen to prevent injury. She thought it seemed like a smart idea and incorporated one weekly vinyasa class at a studio near her apartment. To make a very long story short, yoga quickly evolved from a workout supplement to a stand alone passion and eventually led to enrolling in a teacher training program that resulted in a life transformation.
Alex is passionate about community, health, balance and keeping an open mind. She usually teaches in a 1x1 or small group setting so her students can be specific about their goals and what they are looking to accomplish. She is an avid traveler, connector and life enthusiast. Alex is a graduate of Laughing Lotus 200hr and 300hr teacher training.
